Max Payne Preview

After nearly six years in the dark, Rockstar games is finally bringing Mr. Payne back in the fold. Nobody knows the reason behind the six year absence of this series from the gaming industry. A lot of rumor say that it was the movie Max Payne, starring Mark Wahlberg, and its failure to live up to the reputation of the game that caused Rockstar to keep this franchise under till the whole movie’s failure blew over.

Max Payne 3: Playstation 3, Xbox 360, wireless controllers

This game takes place 12 years after the second installment which had taken place in New York City.  Max leaves New York and wanders around aimlessly and eventually finds himself in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Now according to the talk around the gaming community it is said that Rockstar games has done a lot of work in recreating a very accurate version of the city, so you can expect a realistic city to appear in the game. The surprise here is when you watch the trailers you will notice that this game doesn’t look anything like its predecessors. There aren’t any dark and dingy alleys and dark locals.  Instead they have been replaced with the bright and beautiful setup of Brazil’s Sao Paulo.

The game starts with Max Payne being hired for a private force owned by a powerful and rich Brazilian family. The story of this game revolves around manipulation and betrayal in the City of Sao Paulo, which happens to be one of the world’s deadliest and most crime-ridden cities in the world. Max will need every skill he has in order to survive in this city. Max as straight and honorable as he is finds himself caught deep in the cold heart of the Brazil’s dark underworld. This game will focus on its intense storyline and character driven action like the rest of the series. It will also feature a large number of sophisticated weapons to choose from. Bullet time has been seen since the very first Max Payne, this time is no different with classic moves which includes jumping in slow motion and killing your enemies. One thing that would catch your eye in this game would be the introduction of kill cams. With these you can expect some very gory deaths.

Now one more thing that will catch your eye is the fact that Max has grown older. Sure, they were trying to make it realistic but I feel they could have done without bald head and the extra weight he puts on. Now he definitely doesn’t look like Mark Wahlberg. They have even replaced the legendary voice of James McCaffrey, who played the role in the first two games, with a voice that’s sounds like an old burnt out cop. But then again that’s exactly what he is. This game will be launched on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 as well as pc platforms.

After two very successful titles, there is great expectation that this game will bring back the Max Payne franchise into the big league. So get your wireless controllers ready as Max is gonna inflict some pain in Sao Paulo J
