Pick the next cover athlete for ‘Madden NFL 12’ from one of the 32 teams
The NFL may be in labor disputes, but that isn’t stopping EA Sports from announcing today a bracket-style voting campaign, akin to the on-going NCAA March Madness, to determine the next cover athlete for its NFL video game series next rendition, “Madden NFL 12”.
EA Sports partnered with ESPN’s SportsNation to present this voting campaign starting today with the first round and running through next Sunday. The field is divided into two ranked sides of 16 with a star player from each team representing their respective franchise. Some noteworthy representatives for fans to vote for include last year’s cover athlete, quarterback Drew Brees who is representing his New Orleans Saints, Super Bowl XLV champion, quarterback Aaron Rogers of the Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings’ running back Adrian Peterson.
It’s unclear exactly how the rankings and players were determined, for example, the Seattle Seahawks don’t even have a player representing the team, instead it has the Hawks fans’ moniker, “The 12th Man.”
The winner is set to be revealed on ESPN’s SportsNation on April 27.
“Madden NFL 12” runs the rock into stores this August for the Xbox 360 console, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and other platforms. — NFL season or not.
