PlayStation 3 to Drop Down to $249 Dollars USD

Earlier today, Sony announced that they will be cutting down the prices of the PlayStation 3 worldwide to 249 dollars (US), 249 Euros (Europe) and 24,980 yen (Japan).

As one of their main announcements at the German gaming convention GamesCom, the price drop was effective immediately and includes the 160gb PlayStation 3. Sony also announced that they are lowering the price of the PlayStation Portable (PSP) in Europe to 99 Euro, but it is currently unclear on whether or not that this will affect prices overseas as well.

With a whole slew of exclusive AAA titles, including Uncharted 3 and Resistance 3 coming out by the end of the year, not to mention upcoming compatibility with Sony’s new portable PlayStation Vita console it appears that right now is the right time to purchase Sony’s newest console.
