With Steins; Gate and Chaos; Head being praised by fans and critics of visual novels/gal games for its great production values, engaging storylines and memorable characters, 5pb looks to continue its success by releasing their newest visual novel title, Robotics; Notes across multiple platforms.
Set in the year 2019 on the Japanese island of Tanegashima, the game is currently being described as an “augmented science adventure” revolving around robots and the question of “what would happen if you really tried to make a giant robot?”
Players will assume the role of Kaito Yashiyo, a fan of fighting games, who finds out that one of the game’s main female protagonists is a programmer who created the game engine behind a renowned fighting game. Kaito decides that he wants to create a giant robot that is based around command inputs and motion technology and decides to look for someone at the school’s karate club (more than likely a female) to perform the motion capture sequences.
The upcoming visual novel title is due for release in Spring 2012, although it was revealed several months ago as the next entry into 5pb’s science-themed adventure games. Japanese-literate Xbox 360 owners who want to play the game will need to import it, as well as a Japanese 360, while Sony fans who own just about any 160gb PlayStation 3 unit can play it on their units.
